I've lived in Oregon most of my life and the tap water there tastes very clean and fresh, but I just moved to California and the tap water tastes very stale and almost somewhat fishy. I don't want to have to keep buying bottled water, so would one of those (charcoal?) water-filter pitchers help the water taste more pure and good?
Yes it does. The filter in the water pitcher filters out most of the minerals, therefore making it tastes better.
You didn't say which part of California you moved to, but in Los Angeles, you can really taste the chlorine. If you live in an older house with steel pipes, you can also taste the rust/minerals. It's gross.
Bottled water is too expensive. Get a reverse osmosis filter that goes under your sink. You can get them for under $100.

I buy distlled water in store to drink because California water has to much hardness. So I bought brita filter for drinking. Some people say it does not any good anyway, is it true?
Keep buying distilled water. Brita and Pur do not take out fluoride. Fluoride is bad, it decays your teeth and bones. Dentists tell you lies. I buy distilled water myself and I buy minerals from the health store to add to it.

I've always wondered if the water at California was ever as clear and blue as it is in the Caribbean, which I don't think it ever was. This is what led me to ask my next question as to why the water is such a different color at different locations. I've read the things online about why the water is blue, but nothing about why some of the water is this awesome blue teal color, that looks like heaven, and others look like dirty toilet water.
The water off the California coast is much cooler than the water in the Caribbean. This means that the California coastal water also contains a higher concentration of oxygen. Dissolved oxygen goes down as the temperature rises.
The water off the California coast has more life in it because of the higher oxygen level. However, much of this life is microscopic which makes the California water murkier. Conversely, the warmer water has less oxygen, and therefore has less microscopic life.
Can Schwartseneger do some thing to get the farmers back their water so they will not go broke ?

If I were you, I'd lobby Arnold, and explain to him that California produces loads of fruit for the world (almost half the stuff I find in my grocery stores (I live in Canada) Is grown in California).
It's really stupid that they'd cut off water to agriculture. Like really, really stupid.
