I had a similar question about 10 years ago in East Texas. I just called a couple of local water well drillers. They were happy to give me a rough estimate of the cost. It was certainly good enough for budget purposes.
Local folks usually have the best info in a subject like this because it is so dependent on local conditions.
Water4.org is revolutionizing water well drilling by producing human-powered tools where no electricity or heavy equipment is available, to ...
Yellow striped neck with bigger black stripes, green shell with yellow boxes around shell small boxes, and not shy at all!
Water turtles usually stay in the water, except to dry off and get some sun, when you see them sitting on logs etc.
depending on size...if small..an aquarium/w something for it to get out of the water on...is fine...just see that he has water to drink until then...if you
put him in the tub with water in the low end...if he needs it he will drink
reptiles have no sweat glands, and CAN
go longer than humans, without water, but how long was it sence he had some ?
I know that tapwater tastes different in different areas. Can the water utility company do something to change the taste? What exactly is it that makes the water taste different?
And on a side note, does anyone in Oklahoma like the way their water tastes? I've tried water in Norman, Oklahoma City, and Seminole, and in all those places, it was awful!
My favorite tapwater (out of those I've tasted) is from the Arkansas River Valley and in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Her's something you might find interesting. The ph value of precipitation from around the middle of the country, say from extreme eastern Texas up north to Minneasota is the line, is more acidic the further east you go. West of this line the precipitation is more alkaline or basic. Oklahoma precipitation is straddling the line a little bit but it is less acidic than New York in the east. The reason is the further east you go the more industry you find. These heavy industrial areas pollute enough to make this happen. The acidic rainwater goes into the soil and then into the groundwater. So you can drink water from the east and it will taste different than water from the west. It depends where you are in regard to this line.
I just bought a house in Oklahoma City. It rained the other day and my yard was a muddy mess. I dug a hole in the yard and found clay about 1 foot down. And our water table is about 3 feet below the earth. I'm just trying to find a reasonable solution to the problem. Thanks
I live in Edmond, OK. I would recommend that you consider installing a french drain. A french drain consists of a ditch consisting of gravel and perforated pvc pipe. Dig approx. 18"-24", place pea size gravel in the bottom of ditch (length of your ditch) and then lay perforated pipe (maybe 4" pvc pipe) with holes laying downward onto gravel. Oh, you'll also want to slightly pitch your pipe [approx. 1/4" per 20'] so the water will drain outward away from the watery area. If that doesn't quite get it. You could then dig a very deep hole at the end of your pipe. The depth of the hole should be approx. 3' to 5' place pea size gravel into the bottom of your deep hole. To keep the hole clean you may wish to construction a box consisting of cement rectangle blocks [measuring approx. 1'x5'x12' mortared together the depth & width of the hole. Then place a sump pump onto the top of your gravel. As your hole filles with water the sump pump will pump the standing water out of the discharge pipe attached to the sump pump into an area where you wish the water to be discharged.
Hopes this helps a little difficult to explain. You might go to this link for specific instructions and pictures.

I really want to take my kids to do some fun stuff this summer, but I'm a college student on a budget, so I always try to find discounts on stuff like this before paying full price. Thanks.

College Football Countdown: 3-1 Texas, Oklahoma and Florida ...
3. Texas (12-1, 7-1 Big XII)
Returning Starters: Offense 7, Defense 7
So 2009 starts where 2008 left off, as Oklahoma and Texas come into this season in almost everyone’s mind as the clear cut No. 2 and No. 3 ranked teams in the country, behind only Florida. But trying to figure out which team goes where is like choosing between cheesecake and carrot cake in the dessert line; there’s no wrong choice (of course if you were Kirstie Alley, you’d probably choose both. Moving on).
The biggest reason to take Texas: Colt McCoy. I don’t care who won what awards last season, no player was more important to his team than McCoy. Not Sam Bradford. Not Tim Tebow. Not even the guy that irons Jim Tressel’s sweater vest. No one.
Last year, McCoy did it all for Texas. He completed an absolutely absurd 76 percent of his passes, was the Longhorns leading rusher, and teamed with Jordan Shipley to set a record for most awkward chest-bumps between two white guys. Talk about a career year!
...TE Mosley leaves Oklahoma State football team | Bryan/College ...
STILLWATER, Okla. -- Sophomore tight end Jamal Mosley has left the Oklahoma State football team a week after a woman filed for a protective order against him.
Coach Mike Gundy cited only personal reasons Tuesday as he announced Mosley's departure. Gundy said he would not comment further.
According to documents on the Oklahoma State Courts Network Web site, a woman filed for a protective order against Mosley last Tuesday in Payne County. Her request was granted and Mosley was served with the order the next day. A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
Oklahoma State officials have not linked Mosley's departure to the protective order, which is under seal. University spokesman Gary Shutt declined to comment.
The 6-foot-4, 254-pound Mosley is from Memphis, Tenn. Last season he played in 11 games, catching five passes for 57 yards.
Mosley was listed atop the Cowboys' depth chart released earlier this week, meaning he was in line to start for No. 9 Oklahoma State in its season...
