How is the water pressure from a well compared to regular water service.?
Waterfall

I am moving into a home that has a water well, what if any is there in the water pressure. and how does that work. If I am running my shower and doing dishes at the same time will I still have the same pressure or will I lose pressure. What I am asking is it the same.

Hi Bettie,
The pressure is controlled by a pressure switch on the pump. You can set it wherever you want but most of the time it runs between 45-65 psi. Should never exceed 70 in my opinion.
As far as the amount of water it depends on your particular well production. Most wells have a production number listed somewhere and it's expressed in gallons per minute (gpm). The higher the gpm, obviously, the more water you have at your disposal. A good well will have a range of 10-15gpm .

PS: Morris is absolutely correct about the pump volume. What I am referring to is the well's production rate which is a factor of the water depth in the well, the diameter of the well and the recharge rate. In other words you could have a pump that would pump 50 gpm but if you only have 10gpm available that's all you will get. As he points out if you have a good well and a good volume pump you will have no problems running two taps at the same time. Hope that's clear.

Can a water utility company withhold service from me because of a previous owners unpaid bill?
the giant step well of abhaneri

Mr. A was the orginal owner of the house and he died of old age and gave the house to his sun Jr. Jr sold the house to Mr. B and Mr. B died in a car accident so the house is sold to me. Before Jr. sold the house to Mr. B he left the house with a big unpaid water bill. And the service has been d/c ever since. Now I want to open water service for the house and the Sunbelt Fresh Water Supply company wont let me unless I pay the unpaid bill for this house.

Quite common for water companies to have this policy, i would not be surprised in the future that the electric companies will follow,

What company has the best bottled water delivery service?
Water company equipment, Coso Junction, CA 2

I'm shopping around for a new home delivery bottled water service.

Who has the best service?

Arrowhead
Sparkletts
Alhambra
Poland Spring
Zephyr Hills

If there are any others I didn't mention, please tell me what they are and if they are good?

I'm also wanting your help to tell me if the water is safe to drink, is the company enviro-friendly, etc.

Just drink Tap water. It is far more regulated than bottled water, and it is much cheaper even if you buy a filtering system. Municipal water systems are more efficient and environmentally responsible than having the exact same product trucked in. Most of the water services you mention get their water from municipal sources.

What does entail to have my water service line replaced?

My house was built in 1944 with lead water service line from the watermain to the house. Now after 63 years, the lead pipe has burst beneath the house and water is welling up from beneath the floor. How is this repaired?

The old way is to dig a trench from the house to the street and lay the new pipe in it. A newer way is to use a special machine to kind of drill through the ground at the level that you need to be at. You are drilling the new pipe horizontally as opposed to digging vertically.

Once in place, a relatively small pit needs to be dug out to connect the new pipe to the stop box, near the street. Hopefully, that stop box is relatively new so from there to the street will not have to be replaced.

The part of the stop box that you can see is the thing that sticks up from the ground. The top of it is typically four to six inches diameter and it is steel or iron. What you see is actually a cover and not really part of the stop box, i.e. the valve.

Sorry to tell you, but we are not talking a few dollars here. Depending on many factors, a couple of thousand is probably a minimum, perhaps a lot more.

Not too many choices, it has to be done ASAP. Not only is it causing damage, the water company is loosing revenue and they are not going to put up with that for more than a day or two.

As others have said, if you have lead pipes in the house, you will want to replace them also. Even short lengths are not okay.

Not good news, but you need to know.

ESP » New Water Connections Made Easy

Manado. Bahu Sub-district is located in the city center of Manado, only around 400 meters from the Bahu Mall. This densely populated residential area along the beach is comprised of modest wooden-walled houses, with earth or basic cement floors. The houses are separated by narrow unpaved alleys where light rarely penetrates. Communal wells, or perigi as they are known locally, provide water for drinking, cooking, bathing and washing clothes. Only a small segment of the Bahu community has access to piped water due to expensive installation costs.

However, last May, the sanitation situation in Bahu Sub-district began to change. PT. Air Manado (formerly PDAM Manado) and BRI Manado are cooperating to provide micro-loans for water installation of Rp. 1.1 million that can be paid off in up to 24 monthly payments.
