Does drinking seltzer water help you loose weight as well as drinking plain water?
Clean Running Water Project

I know that drinking water quenches your thirst and fills you up without giving you any calories, but I really love to drink plain seltzer water! Will it do the same thing as plain water? If you see any of my previous questions, you will know that I am also trying to shed some belly fat! If you have any tips about that as well, post them below!

Seltzer water will technically make you gain weight b/c it has calories in it...unlike water.

How can sb make a well for drinking water in the refuggee camps of sudan? How much does it cost?
Getting water from the well

Also where in the rest of the world do people need well for drinking water?

It is not hard to dig a well for drinking water, IF you have the right equipment. People have been digging water wells for thousands of years. There are charitable organizations that can help with the cost of digging a well. American Water Works Association has a program called, "Water for People." It has helped many around the world get the equipment to dig and build water wells.

If I use non suitable drinking water from a well in my humidifiers are the organisms then airborne?
2011febr 712

We have a large well for bathing and washing but cannot drink from it. I use this water in my indoor humidifiers. Are the contaminants cabable of becoming airborne and making my family sick? I can't afford to use the filtered water we buy to drink and cook with. I use the humidifiers for my plants. They just thrive, but I am noticing my family is getting colds and stool problems. Is this from the well water I am using in the humidifiers? Can I boil the water b4 putting in the humidifiers?
Wow!! Thanks. As for the expense for boiling water, we have our own natural gas well also, so we pay for no natural gas or propane to heat our house, water, and cook with. So I think I'll just boil a ton of it for the humidifiers. I do not have the complete analysis. It was done 8 or more years ago. How often should wells be tested?

What is the contamination in the well? If there are microorganisms, there is some risk that they may be harmful. If the contamination is mainly nitrates or metals, use in humidifiers won't be much of a problem. Do you have an analysis report for the water?

If you are using impure water for washing, there is always a small risk for contamination even after drying up hands, cutlery etc. Contamination usually manifests as stool problems, common cold usually has other reasons (but a weakened resistance due to other contamination being warded off might be one).

If the humidifiers work by slow evaporation, the risk is fairly low. Legionella are dangerous, but are mostly transferred by droplets, e.g. in showers or in spray humidifiers. For spray humidifiers, some disinfection is advisable.

Boiling the water ought to do the job, but may be as expensive as using the filtered water. Ultraviolet disinfection would reduce the risk strongly, too.

I want to produce my own drinking water, is it legal to dig my own water well?
2011febr 721

I live in Los Angeles and want to dig my own private water well in my backyard. Is it possible for me to do this?

No. That sort of thing is regulated by the state, and they certainly wouldn't let you dig a well within the Los Angeles city limits.

Even if you want to dig a well outside the city limits, you have to hire a licensed well digger. Water wells are all registered with the state. It is too big a risk to let people dig their own wells because of the risks of contamination of the ground water. We all drink from the same sources.

31 Aug 09 Good News for Drinking Water Safety

It seems there's only bad news these days about our nation's drinking water safety. Health scares and contamination stories abound and it makes you wonder what on earth is coming out of our drinking water faucets.

Drinking water safety is a major health issue now, especially as we are being recommended to drink eight glasses a day! Studies have found over 2000 toxic chemicals that can cause cancer coming out of our drinking water faucets.

Our water companies just can't afford to make all of the water clean as only a tiny fraction is used for drinking. Instead they just use gallons of chlorine to make do as it's the cheapest, not the most effective, way.

We live in highly industrialized times, spewing out gases and chemicals into the environment which eventually find their way into the water table and into our homes. In part we are responsible as we demand more and more products to use, not realizing the by- product of this is pollution.

EPA: Chemicals Found in Wyoming Drinking Water Might Be from ...

Federal environment officials investigating drinking water contamination near the ranching town of Pavillion, Wyo., have found that at least three water wells contain a chemical used in the natural gas drilling process of hydraulic fracturing. Scientists also found traces of other contaminants, including oil, gas or metals, in 11 of 39 wells tested there since March. The study, which is being conducted under the Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund program, is the first time the EPA has undertaken its own water analysis in response to complaints of contamination in drilling areas, and it could be pivotal in the national debate over the role of natural gas in America’s energy policy. Scientists in Wyoming will continue testing this fall to determine the level of chemicals in the water and exactly where they came from. If they find that the contamination did result from drilling, the placid plains arching up to the Wind River Range would become the first site where fracturing...
