Explain in terms of the action – reaction law the reason why firemen have difficulty holding on to the nozzle of a fire hose when water is gushing out at high speeds. What is providing the action force pushing the water out? What is the reaction force?

the nozzle has a section called the throat. this is where the energy of the flow is changed from low speed high flow in the wide hose to high speed low flow in the nozzle. Both are equal. However, the velocity (speed) is dramatically higher generating the "action".

the flow pushes on the fireman with the force equal to the kinetic energy of the flow. This is the same fluid dynamic that turns tubines in jets and power stations.

this has been bugging me all night. this toy had a monster or an action figure inside a bag that if you put the bag in water, it'd melt and reveal a toy that you didn't know what it was until the bag melted. it was a hard plastic, non movable, collectible figure.

i would like to make more ionic action in my water because i have softened water and i dont like the effects of it on my hair. what can i mix with water to make alot of ion action so i can just put it in a bottle.

Add salt to it. =)

The house was built 2 years ago, however the next two houses in line are also having issues with the water. These two houses are newer than mine but they were told the exact same thing, do we have any rights?

Do you have it in writing and exactly what does it say? If the contract calls for potable water and what you have is drinkable then you are probably out of luck, even though it may taste bad or have a lot of minerals in it. If all you have is an oral commitment then you have next to nothing.

whitecaps happen when the wind blows the tops off of the waves, so with the boat perpendicular to the wind, no whitecaps underneath.

if you're facing up- or down-wind you'll get some whitecap action.

But the underside of the deck won't stay dry anyway. It'll get splashed while underway if nothing else. In high winds, waves will wash over the tops of the pontoons.

And anyway, your real enemy is atmospheric moisture.

Start with marine plywood or, if that's too expensive or hard to find, use A/B or B/C EXT. Saturate it in polyester resin, as much as it will absorb. It'll absorb more in hot weather. Finish with a coat of resin with catalyst added.
