I am moving into a home that has a water well, what if any is there in the water pressure. and how does that work. If I am running my shower and doing dishes at the same time will I still have the same pressure or will I lose pressure. What I am asking is it the same.
Hi Bettie,
The pressure is controlled by a pressure switch on the pump. You can set it wherever you want but most of the time it runs between 45-65 psi. Should never exceed 70 in my opinion.
As far as the amount of water it depends on your particular well production. Most wells have a production number listed somewhere and it's expressed in gallons per minute (gpm). The higher the gpm, obviously, the more water you have at your disposal. A good well will have a range of 10-15gpm .
PS: Morris is absolutely correct about the pump volume. What I am referring to is the well's production rate which is a factor of the water depth in the well, the diameter of the well and the recharge rate. In other words you could have a pump that would pump 50 gpm but if you only have 10gpm available that's all you will get. As he points out if you have a good well and a good volume pump you will have no problems running two taps at the same time. Hope that's clear.

I have got a house in spain with a domestic well. Water is pumped from the well to a holding tank, but I need pressure on the water for use in the house.
Attach a secondary pump between the tank and the house. Make sure it is designed for potable water usage. The pump rating should be low as your pipes may not be able to take pressure without leaking.

well pump keeps running non stop, low water pressure, pressure gauge stuck so i am unsure of actual water pressure.pressure tank air pressure at 33 psi, pressure tank feels empty. bad pump? system leak? dry well? bad pressure tank? i am new to wells and their problems, any ideas?
put on new gage and it reads at 20 psi. pressure switch is ok and fuctional.
The pressure switch is stuck. When the pressure drops the switch closes and the pump starts to run and when the reaches the cut-off point it shuts the pump off. These switches will sometimes stick closed and the pump will continue to run until it burns out the pump motor. Call a plumber ASAP.

I have a single jet well system for water at my house. I'm trying to increase the water pressure so my irrigation system will work. I was told I need a bigger tank and a stronger (2hp) motor to pump the water. Can I just upgrade the motor without changing the tank? I have a 42 gallon tank and the well is 17 feet deep.
there should be a pressure regulating switch somewhere on your system that activates the pump when pressure drops and cuts it off when operating pressure is attained. you should be able to change the settings on the regulator to raise the cutoff pressure in the system
I recently had my well fixed and installed a sprinkler system, but not enough water pressure is being supplied to the system. We have eight zones with 6 heads a zone. The pump is over 30 years old and I was told the seal might need to be replaced. Would resealing the pump possibly fix the problem or buying a pump with more horse power? Thanks
If the pump had a bad seal then you would see a leak, it sounds more like you are in need of a stronger pump. Also make sure there is not a leak somewhere in the lines, this would reduce pressure also. They are not that deep so you would find a wet/soft spot at its location, and that head would show lower pressure than the other five.

Tankless water heaters can lower bills
BENTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Benton County is home to a green technology company that could save you money on your water bill without forcing you to take cold showers.
EZ Tankless is a company that sells tankless water heaters. EZ Tankless employee Mike Pavuk said the concept and the size of the heater can be intimidating to new customers.
"They look at the unit, and it's so small compaired to a tank water heater, and they can't comprehend that it will produce enough hot water for them to take multiple showers at a time," said Pavuk.
Pavuk is quick to assure us that it can. The heater saves energy by only heating water when it's needed. When a customer turns on the hot water, a sensor is triggered that turns on the burners on the unit. The burners heat the water and hot water then flows continuously until it is shut off.
"When you turn the faucet off, it senses the flow has stopped and turns off the gas. So that's all the energy you're using. It's just that instant you're in the shower," said Pavuk.
