How can you restart a corroded well water pump?
water well pump repair

My family has a vacation home on the bay side of a small island off the coast of Texas. The house has a water well and uses an electric pump housed in a pump house underneath the structure, which is up on stilts. The house is infrequently used and with the seaside conditions the pump has corroded and will not start automatically. What do I need to do to clean it up so it will function? I do not believe that the motor is damaged.

the problem with the pump not running will be the motor only.....most likely the motor rotor has rusted to the winding core of the motor ....soak it down with wd40 on the inside ...should be vent holes to spray wd40 in...try to find some way to turn rotor ....on some pumps there is a screwdriver slot on the end of the motor...if it still wont run take it to shop

Will changing my water pump come with a radiator flush as well?
water well pump repair

I am going to have my water pump changed soon. I was wondering, since it appears most of my coolant has leaked away and since I am going to get my water pump fixed to get my coolant leak under control, will this mean I will automatically be getting a radiator flush as well when I take it to the mechanic or would I have to get that handled separately from the water pump problem?
Since I hardly have any coolant in there anymore, just mostly water, which there is not much of because of the leak, then I'd imagine the mechanic would have to drain it and then put fresh coolant in it. Wouldn't that be the case? Would that be considered a radiator flush?

its probobly separate, but ask nicely and they may throw it in. or you may have to pay for it.

I need to replace a well water pump and the deepth is 14 to 67 feet, what kind of pump should I buy?
Well Pump

I bought a house with a well, and it doesn't have a pump. I new to this so I have no idea where to buy a water pump, less what kind. The depth of the well is 67 feet and the highest level of water is 14 feet. What brand or model should I get?

Go to the local hardware store, or a farm & fleet store and you can get your pump.

Since the wll is that deep, I would get a well pump that pumps with enough head to do what you need...

Lemme see.. I would put the pump so that its 10 feet above the bottom, so that when you draw down, (use it), it will have enough to use...

Now, if you have a one storied house, then I would take the 50 feet of head from the well, pluss another ten feet for the first floor, plus, another 20 feet for pressure...80 feet of head should do it. (this will get the pump to pump the water past the well, into the house and past that if you use a hose outside... your Hardware store man should, if they know what they are doing, tell you this).

It should pump into a water container, and a pump, to give you pressure, or, you can also have it bypass the pump and use it directly as an outside hose connection..your choice

I've actually seen people put three way switches at every place they have water, and kick the water pump on, when they needed this... so, its up to you how you do it, but the "norm" is to have a water tank and a pressure tank with a pump, to pump it through out the house, thus giveing pressure that way...

How can I troubleshoot my well-water pump house? My pump is'nt getting enough pressure to shut itsself off.
Water pump

My water pump to my well is not getting enough pressure to turn it's self off. I have a pre-charged air tank and it has about 36 p.s.i. My pump is set to shut off at about 48 p.s.i, should I put more air in the air tank? Or am I wasting my time with that route? I have no water at my house so any help will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you may have a leak.. perhaps the foot valve in the well... I recommend calling a plumber.

I have a well water pump in my basement. How do I adjust it to keep the water pressure up in the water lines?
Deep

Again, I have a well. We have a pump and a well water holding tank that does not keep up good pressure. The pressure gets below 25 pounds and that makes for very little pressure up stairs. I believe that there is an adjustment screw. I can see two screws; but need to know which one to adjust - clockwise or counter clockwise.. Appreciate the help. Thanks

I think that you might need a new pressure tank or a new pressure switch.

If you depend on the pump for 100% of your water pressure, you will be disappointed and it will ruin the pump.
