What home water filter system is the best for removing chlorine and flouride?

I am looking for a water filter to put on my sink faucet. Does anyone know what filter is the best for removing chemicals, especially chlorine and flouride?

The absolute best system is the eSpring system and is a purification system, not a filter. It is the highest rated system on the market and only a distillery can get water cleaner. It not only is much, much better than a basic filter such as Britta or Pur but by year two is actually cheaper too.

Fluoride however will not be removed. It is not considered a contaminate so no home filter or purification system will remove it. The only thing that removes fluoride is a distillery. They are very expensive to buy and run, and are messy to maintain.

Best in line water filter system for home use?

Has anyone used a home inline water filter system they would recommend
The city water system is really bad.Well know for build up and corrosion. The dogs water bowl builds up with a clear hard like crust on the bottom. You have to scrub it out.The coffee pot needs complete cleaning every month. No smell to water. If this is any clues to a good filter system.

Here's a site that lists a comparison table of 10 different filter systems, including links to discussions about water filtration.

Last year, I got an Aqua-Safe reverse osmosis system with 6-stage filtration (the RO membrane, one particulate filter, three carbon filters, and one ion exchange filter). It generates 100 gallons per day and comes with a 5 gallon storage tank. It cost about $200 and it came with a 5-year supply of replacement filters, including replacement ion resin beads. It takes my water from about 3000 PPM to under 5 (it even came with a digital PPM meter).

The water that comes out of it is as good as any I have ever tasted. We also have a line running from it to our refrigerator. So, the ice is very clear and the cold water coming from the dispenser is awesome.

I highly recommend a reverse osmosis system, if you have the room and can afford it.

How much does it cost to put a water filter(filtration) system in your home?

It really depends on what your looking for and what your problems are.
You can go with a cheap $50 system for one faucet or you can spend $80,000 for a whole house system. That number really depends on the total water usage in your home.
There's a lot more info needed before I can really get you a close figure.
Also if you go with an R/O System you need to install it right. You can not have any metal pipes or fittings used.

  • Need a Water Filter System? Find Out How To Decide Which Is Right ...

Water Filter Systems come in a vast array of styles and specifications, from really simple pitchers costing very little or a counter top, faucet mount unit which can be very easy to install. These are not very technical to install, they sometimes don’t require the use of any tools and are cheap to buy.

Full house filter systems tend to have between 12-16 stages of filtration and can cost well over one thousand dollars.

Hundreds of specifications are available through different suppliers, there will almost certainly be at least one for your requirements and as the saying goes you will generally “get what you pay for”.

The real plus point of the countertop units is their ease of installation, whereas the under sink units are better if you prefer to keep your work surface clear and the filter unit out of sight.

If you need more than just one outlet with filtered water, then a full house system will be what you want, they do cost more but are much more adaptable than the more basic units, they will have high flow rates and possibly numerous upgrade options.

The GenGreen Blog » New Plant Filtration System Turns Used Shower ...

Water recycling efforts can go way beyond the basic methods used today, according to a team of eco-thinkers and scientists who have derived a way to create fresh drinking water from shower water using a variety of plants.

Designers Jun Yasumoto, Vincent Vanderbrouk, Oliver Pigasse and Alban Le Henry settled on the shower basin concept when searching for creative and practical ways to recycle water. The eco-conscious team graduated from French national design school Ecole Nationale Supirieure de Creation Industrielle, and were especially interested in finding a way to make practical use of shower water, something normally filtered outside the home.

    How does it work?

The concept/design for this eco-shower is based on a natural filtration process called phyto-purification, and helps to turn a bathroom into a mini-ecosystem. As you shower, the wastewater passes down into a chamber below the shower floor, and travels through a maze of filters including; sand, reeds, rushes, a mesh filter, water hyacinths, lemnas and a final carbon filter. The plants grow up and around the edge of the shower floor, and the filtration takes place at the root of the plants. Chemicals from soaps, shampoos and other debris are removed, and then the water is recycled back up for use in your next shower, or for brushing your teeth, washing your face or drinking.
